The Webb City Public Library subscribes to a few eMaterials vendors and some good reference databases for both patrons and businesses. We have a couple that specialize in materials and databases for our younger patrons, along with ones that are beneficial to patrons of all ages. We are always looking for cost effective solutions in order to better assist our patrons with their online entertainment and research needs. DrivingTests.org

Webb City Public Library announces a partnership with Driving-Tests.org, a company dedicated to driver safety and education, to offer free Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) practice tests to library patrons. The new service includes free tests specifically based on the state’s DMV materials. It is the only site of its kind to include accessibility tools that let users hear selections read aloud, make them into MP3s, translate pages into other languages, magnify text, and mask portions of the screen for greater visibility on the practice tests. Financial Literacy

The Rosen Financial Literacy database makes economics and personal finance easy to understand and highly engaging. Articles explore macro-, micro-, and global economics as well as personal and household finance. Users will learn to manage credit and debt, save and invest with confidence, plan for college and retirement and avoid fraud and scams. Financial Literacy is an online economics and personal finance resource specifically designed for students in grades 7-12, but can easily benefit adults.

Newspaper Archive

The Webb City Public Library offers the Missouri Collection of archived newspapers through Newspaper Archive.  This service can be accessed for free by using our computers or connecting to our WiFi.

Newspaper Source

TNewspaper Source(TM) provides cover-to-cover full text for more than 40 national (U.S.) and international newspapers, including Christian Science Monitor, USA Today, The Washington Post, The Washington Times, The Times (London), Toronto Star, etc. The database also contains selective full text for more than 370 regional (U.S.) newspapers. In addition, full-text television & radio news transcripts are provided from CBS News, CNN, CNN International, FOX News, NPR, etc.

Pronunciator

Pronunciator is now live! It can be accessed by following this LINK for the English interface or this LINK for the Spanish interface. You will need your library card number number and then click "Register". You will then be prompted to put in your email address and to create a password. After you are registered you can then download an app for your smartphone or tablet or use Pronunciator on your computer. We have user manuals available for checkout at the circulation desk. The Library along with Pronunciator, also offers Procitizen. Procitizen allows patrons to prepare for the U.S. Citizenship exam and can be accessed HERE for the English interface or HERE for Spanish interface.
